Bachelor of Creative Arts
VISUAL EFFECTS AND ENTERTAINMENT DESIGN
CDW Studios in conjunction with Flinders University offer a 3 year full time Bachelor of Creative Arts (Visual Effects and Entertainment Design) degree. The degree features all instructors, live demos and on-on-one industry feedback that lead the way at CDW Studios, but now you can do it as a full time University course with Flinders University. Students in the BCA (VEED) can choose either the 2D Concept, Game Art, VFX or Animation pathways throughout the degree.
Studying full time is the best way to fast track your career in the entertainment design and VFX industry. All classes are taught by industry professionals, ensuring students receive an industry relevant education. With highly focused classes in a relaxed learning environment, CDW Studios and Flinders University employs a dedicated but encouraging environment for students to develop their portfolios and learn what it takes to become an industry professional.

Four Stream Pathways
The BCA-VEED offers four distinct pathways – or study streams – for students looking to find the right career path. Each stream allows students to further specialise as they progress in the degree and move closer to working in the industry.
Degree Features
- International Masterclasses
Every year, renowned professionals from across the globe share their expertise through CDW Studios’ International Masterclasses. These are FREE for current BCA VEED students and continue to be discounted after graduating.
- HECS-HELP Financing
BCA VEED is delivered through a partnership between CDW Studios and Flinders University, who are a Commonwealth supported provider. This means eligible domestic students can apply for a HECS-HELP loan, rather than pay for the degree up front (PAYG).
- Discounted Activities & Events
All BCA VEED students receive discounts to CDW Studios uninstructed life drawing sessions, holiday workshops, online short courses, international masterclasses and special events.
- Studio Experience
We provide opportunities for students to work alongside the team at our sister studio, CDW Animation. This is an opportunity for our top students to build their professional portfolio and be mentored one-on-one by our team of industry artists in a hands-on studio environment.
- Student Study Areas
There are designated student areas at all Flinders and CDW Studios sites with kitchen and wifi facilities for self-directed study. These spaces also allow students to discuss projects, brainstorm creative ideas and solve technical issues together.
- Sketch Club
Sketch Club is a group run by students for students. It’s an official Flinders University club, where students get together for student-led workshops, movie days, study meetups, to provide opportunities for peer review and continue to build our strong student community.

From your first lesson, you will be learning on-the-tools using industry standard software packages and best-practice workflows.
This means you will be learning on the same tools, using the same methods that you would be using on the job.

FUNDAMENTALS FOR LIFE
CDW Studios believes in a “Fundamentals First” approach to learning. Each of our education pathways (or streams) include bootcamp topics that are designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills required to take on any project. Having strong fundamentals are key to leveling up your art across any area.
Each “bootcamp” is broken up into a series of projects, teaching you essential skills with greater focus towards major projects in your second and third year of study.
Software moves fast, but the fundamentals don’t change. By having a deeper understanding of form, perspective, biomechanics or particle systems not only will you have up-to-the-minute training, you’ll also have transferrable skills to future-proof you to whatever direction the industry takes.
