If you are an artist who loves technical challenges and wants to work at the final point of the production process then  the BCA-VEED VFX Stream is perfect for you.

VFX Stream Overview

Kick start your career with the Flinders University & CDW Studios Bachelor of Creative Arts (Visual Effects and Entertainment Design) (BCA VEED). This three year degree features industry instructors, live demonstrations and one-on-one industry feedback with two internationally recognised and award-winning schools.

BCA VEED has four streams (like majors) of study (2D, 3D, VFX and Animation), which can be tailored to your interests. The Animation Stream includes core topics like Animation Bootcamp and Animation Pipeline as well as electives like Storyboarding and Character Design.

Every CDW Studios workshop is led by a world-class industry professional. These workshops include live demonstrations and are an opportunity to learn industry tips and tricks directly from those working in film and game industries. Students are encouraged to follow along as animators work through their creative process to stretch their skills. These animators also provide mentorship, support and guidance through your journey to becoming a professional digital artist.

We will equip you with skills you need to work effectively in animation pipelines. You’ll learn what it takes to excel in the field as an animator, roto, lighting or FX artist, rigger or compositor. On completion, you can also apply for the exclusive BCA VEED Honours program. This is an additional year of intensive study and mentorship to work on a personal project which can be pitched to studios.

    Degree Features

    • International Masterclasses

Every year, renowned professionals from across the globe share their expertise through CDW Studios’ International Masterclasses. These are FREE for current BCA VEED students and continue to be discounted after graduating.

    • HECS-HELP Financing

BCA VEED is delivered through a partnership between CDW Studios and Flinders University, who are a Commonwealth supported provider. This means eligible domestic students can apply for a HECS-HELP loan, rather than pay for the degree up front (PAYG).

    • Discounted Activities & Events

All BCA VEED students receive discounts to CDW Studios uninstructed life drawing sessions, holiday workshops, online short courses, international masterclasses and special events.

    • Studio Experience

We provide opportunities for students to work alongside the team at our sister studio, CDW Animation. This is an opportunity for our top students to build their professional portfolio and be mentored one-on-one by our team of industry artists in a hands-on studio environment.

    • Student Study Areas

There are designated student areas at all Flinders and CDW Studios sites with kitchen and wifi facilities for self-directed study. These spaces also allow students to discuss projects, brainstorm creative ideas and solve technical issues together.

    • Sketch Club

Sketch Club is a group run by students for students. It’s an official Flinders University club, where students get together for student-led workshops, movie days, study meetups, to provide opportunities for peer review and continue to build our strong student community.
