VFX Stream Overview
Kick start your career with the Flinders University & CDW Studios Bachelor of Visual Effects and Entertainment Design (VEED). This three year degree features industry instructors, live demonstrations and one-on-one industry feedback with two internationally recognised and award-winning schools.
VEED has four streams (like majors) of study (2D, 3D, VFX and Animation), which can be tailored to your interests. The Animation Stream includes core topics like Animation Bootcamp and Animation Pipeline as well as electives like Storyboarding and Character Design.
Every CDW Studios workshop is led by a world-class industry professional. These workshops include live demonstrations and are an opportunity to learn industry tips and tricks directly from those working in film and game industries. Students are encouraged to follow along as animators work through their creative process to stretch their skills. These animators also provide mentorship, support and guidance through your journey to becoming a professional digital artist.
We will equip you with skills you need to work effectively in animation pipelines. You’ll learn what it takes to excel in the field as an animator, roto, lighting or FX artist, rigger or compositor. On completion, you can also apply for the exclusive VEED Honours program. This is an additional year of intensive study and mentorship to work on a personal project which can be pitched to studios.

VEED Topic Guides
VEED is a three year degree, with a full time load including four topics each semester. It is delivered in partnership between Flinders University and CDW Studios. Students select CDW Studios’ workshops based on their study stream and specific area of interest. Below are complete topic guides for each of the four areas of study which will help you select your classes during the enrolment process.

- Hands on Industry Training
Students learn directly from Industry Professionals in a hands-on learning environment. You will be spending most of your time "on the tools" - honing your craft and developing the skills needed to work in a studio environment.
- Portfolio Focus & Career Outcomes
The most important thing about succeeding in your career is building your portfolio. This is our number one focus - each CDW workshop is designed to develop your skills and build your portfolio. From weekly exercises to major projects, everything works towards leveling you up - fast.
- HECS-HELP Financing
VEED is delivered through a partnership between CDW Studios and Flinders University, who are a Commonwealth supported provider. This means eligible domestic students can apply for a HECS-HELP loan, rather than pay for the degree up front (PAYG).
- Flexible Study Options
Our hybrid learning model allows students flexibility when you need it and gives you quick, easy access to course resources online.

Sketch Club is a group run by students for students. It’s an official Flinders University club, where students get together for student-led workshops, movie days, study meetups, to provide opportunities for peer review and continue to build our strong student community.
